If you are on Debian itself, you can simply check with `lsb_release -a`
or one of the other methods of checking the OS version.
If you are not on Debian, this will simply list the version of your distribution, not the Debian version it's based on.
All Debian based distributions do however store the name of the Debian version in `/etc/debian_version`. Use `cat` in the terminal to read it:
```
cat /etc/debian_version
```
That simply returns "bookworm/sid" in my distribution.
